prioritize yourself.
individual counseling
Therapy is a way to prioritize your mental health and seek support with your life goals. Starting your therapy journey can be a transformative decision in navigating the challenges inherent to the human experience.
Experiences such as childhood trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, starting a family, or entering a new career are all normal life experiences that can be overwhelming and deserve attention in a supportive way.
Talking with a counselor has many benefits, including coping effectively with your emotions, improving self-esteem, and experiencing fulfilling relationships. It offers hope for learning how to access your inner strengths to navigate life in the way that is most important to you.
Some people have a specific idea of what they want to focus on, and others like to find those answers as they go. Therapy is often an experience of revealing deeper layers of yourself. Lean in and trust the process!
Individual therapy sessions are 60-90 minutes in duration. You can come as you are, in anything from your work clothes to your gym clothes. Sessions take place in a cozy office suite, or in the comfort of your own home, where you can be yourself.
emdr therapy
Trauma is a part of life. Trauma-informed therapy looks at what you have been through; not what is “wrong” with you. Without our conscious knowing, unresolved past traumas can continue to direct our lives. Resolving past traumas can lead to increased satisfaction in life, improved self-esteem, and reduced impulsivity and intensity around triggers.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy is a structured 8-phase model that can treat anxiety, depression, PTS, and addiction issues. It is a results-driven, fast-acting therapy that targets unresolved painful memories and guides the brain through reprocessing the experience by helping the two hemispheres communicate.
The impact of trauma can shift how we see ourselves, others, or the world. The brain needs to understand, “What does it say about me or the world that this happened?” EMDR helps rewire the brain so that adaptive inner beliefs can be built in response to the impact of trauma. While clinical, it is also a grassroots approach, inviting in art and spirituality as it allows the brain to guide the healing process.
couples counseling
Our relationships are a significant part of our lives and well-being. Just like our vehicles, our relationships need routine tune-ups and maintenance to run smoothly. All long-term relationships go through difficult times at one point or another. Past traumas can also infiltrate our adult relationships. Learn how to build a secure attachment and use healthy coping skills to overcome chronic conflict or pain cycles.
Couples counseling provides a supportive space to work through issues that arise, overcome resentment, align shared meaning, and build communication skills. There is always more to learn about our partner, and a therapist can provide the structure for a couple to be intentional about strengthening or rebuilding the connection in the relationship.
We use research-based methods built to help clients manage conflict, deepen intimacy, and share a life purpose.
IFS THERAPY
IFS Therapy, also known as “parts work”, is about getting to know and nurture your inner system. We all have protector parts that keep us safe… we all have manager parts that keep us functioning… we all have an inner child part… and we all have our “true self”. Our “true self” is that innate essence of being alive, before the experiences and pains of life swept in, causing us to adapt.
Connecting with this your inner self (and with all of your parts) allows for deep dives into who you are. It promotes self-compassion and provides inner wisdom into why you do what you do, how to get what you want, and how your goals can align.
If you are feeling “stuck” in making a major decision or breaking an unhelpful pattern, IFS therapy can help. It promotes reconnecting with your inner child and can improve self-esteem and a healthy attachment system. It is grounded in research of the multiplicity of the mind and it resonates with many in the human experience.
